This was a piece I completed in Year 8, which basically a still of a vase with three flowers on a table near a window. I was always fascinated by the way light struck an object and how it would change the mood of a image. My inspiration came to me when I was in Art Class and how our teacher slowly closed the binds for the class room affecting both the mood and its surroundings. Making a image looking three dimensional was another goal of mine within the painting. Slowly, I got the grasp of it by mixing different colours into the paint and using the light as a guidance.
The Jumbo Restaurant is a floating restaurant is one that capture anyone attention. This large floating restaurant in situated in Aberdeen Harbour. It has become a tourist attraction through is diversity, being able to cater as a restaurant as well staging large festivals, weddings and furthermore. It stands out from its surroundings, basically it is a palace floating on the water. The harbour is surrounded by grey tall structures, which are not aesthically pleasing, the jumbo restaurant is centred in the middle of the harbour and thus can be seen almost for every side. It is a jewel for the harbour especially during night. This is what i want my architecture to show, something that stands out and lifts the atmosphere of its surrounding. Even though it marvelously decorated with old chinese ornaments the structure present a beauty that wins over the modernistic architecture surrounding it.
Like the name this garden lies against the bay (Marina Reservoir). The Singapore government wanted to create a "City in a Garden", they placed this idea for the architectural competition and the two victors were Grant Associates and Gustafson Porter. Their design was completed in 2012. Each section of the of the park has various purposes and thus they the buildings change in order to get the climatic feel for both the audience as well the plants/flowers. For example, the Flower Dome is air chilled through chilled water pipes from the ground slabs while the warm air is vented from the top. It is the largest columnless greenhouse in the world. This is achieved by glass sitting on the steel grid acting like an egg shell. Amazingly, this helps to achieve a Mediterranean climate. Its best for the flowers.
